PeelTec Paint & Sealant Remover
High-performance spray remover for paint, varnish, polyurethane and cured silicone. Sprays on, lifts the finish, scrapes off. Available as a 500ml spray.
The UK's No.1 Sealant & Adhesive
Harbro Electrical stocks the complete CT1 range, from the original CT1 sealant and adhesive in nine colours through to PeelTec paint remover, BT1 bathroom sealant, CT1 Silicone, MultiSolve and FC1 Decorator's Caulk. In stock at our Peterlee trade counter and ready for UK mainland delivery.
The Fundamentals
CT1 is a hybrid sealant and construction adhesive manufactured by C-Tec, the company behind the UK's most-specified trade sealant range. It is built around C-Tec's patented TRIBRID Technology, a hybrid-polymer chemistry that the manufacturer independently tested under BS EN ISO 8339:2005, proven to be up to 360% stronger with 250% more elongation than traditional hybrid polymers.
For an electrician, plumber or general builder, CT1 replaces a shelf full of single-purpose products. One 290ml cartridge can step in for silicone sealant, sanitary silicone, acrylic sealant, butyl rubber, polyurethane sealant, and a range of wood and PU adhesives. Fewer cartridges to carry, fewer chances of grabbing the wrong product on a job.
The product bonds without primers or mechanical fixings to virtually any building substrate: metal (including lead), glass, mirrors, all woods, MDF, polystyrene, fibreglass, concrete, most natural stones without staining, and the majority of synthetic materials and plastics. The exceptions are PP, PE and PTFE, which generally resist adhesion across the whole hybrid-polymer category.
CT1 also carries the certifications that matter for specification work: EC1 Plus A+ Indoor Air Comfort Gold, ISEGA approval for food preparation environments, and approval by the Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association (NAAF). It is odourless, solvent-free, UV-resistant, and rated for use in salt-water and marine environments.
On a typical electrical job, CT1 turns up in several places: sealing around accessory back boxes where they meet rendered or tiled walls, bedding mirrors and touch-control glass plates, anchoring trunking and conduit to brickwork before mechanical fixings go in, sealing cable entry points on outdoor boxes against moisture ingress, and fixing escutcheons and finishing trim where you cannot drill.
CT1 vs Generic Silicone
On the shelf they look similar: a 290ml cartridge. In use they behave very differently. Standard silicone is a single-purpose sealant. CT1 is a structural adhesive that also seals.

Local Trade Counter
Harbro Electrical is a trade electrical wholesaler in Peterlee, County Durham, and we stock the full CT1 range at our showroom on Whitworth Road. If you're working on a job anywhere across the North East (Peterlee, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Durham, Seaham, Easington or the surrounding areas), you can call ahead, walk in, and pick up CT1 sealant, PeelTec, BT1, MultiSolve or FC1 the same day.
We have served the regional electrical trade for over 30 years, and our trade counter staff are working electricians and qualified wholesalers, not generalists. If you're not sure whether you need CT1, BT1, or a standard silicone for the specific joint you're working on, walk in and ask. We'd rather you leave with the right cartridge than the wrong one.
Online orders are dispatched the same working day on UK mainland delivery, with free delivery on trade orders over £70. Trade account customers receive their invoiced trade pricing on every CT1 SKU.
Stock-holding matters with this range. We rotate stock, hold all nine CT1 colours, and keep PeelTec, BT1, CT1 Silicone, MultiSolve and FC1 Decorator's Caulk in the racking, not on order. If a job specification calls for a particular CT1 product line we don't currently hold, we can usually have it in within 24 hours through our C-Tec supply chain.
Frequently Asked
The questions trade customers ask at the counter, answered here.
CT1 is a hybrid sealant and construction adhesive used by trade electricians, plumbers and builders for sealing, bonding and waterproofing. It bonds to virtually any material (metal, glass, mirrors, wood, MDF, concrete, fibreglass and most plastics) without primers or additional fixings, and works in wet or dry conditions, including underwater.
Yes. CT1 is fully waterproof and can be applied in wet conditions, on wet substrates and even underwater. It is approved for marine and salt-water environments and is widely used for emergency boat repairs and roof leak fixes.
Standard silicone is a single-purpose sealant. CT1 uses TRIBRID hybrid-polymer technology that makes it both a high-strength construction adhesive and a sealant in one cartridge. Unlike silicone, CT1 will not shrink or crack, can be over-painted, cures in wet conditions, and bonds structurally rather than just sealing the joint.
Both products use C-Tec's TRIBRID technology. CT1 is the universal sealant and adhesive for general trade use. BT1 is engineered specifically for bathrooms and wet rooms, with enhanced anti-fungal protection that makes it the better choice for sanitary applications around baths, showers and basins.
CT1 skins over in approximately 10 to 15 minutes and cures at roughly 3mm per 24 hours under normal conditions (23°C, 50% relative humidity). For thicker beads, full cure can take up to 7 days. The bond reaches handling strength much sooner than that.
Yes. CT1 can be over-painted with most water-based paints once it has fully cured. Always test on a small area first. For powder-coated substrates, check with the powder coating manufacturer.
For most trade applications, yes. CT1 replaces silicone, acrylic, butyl, sanitary sealants and many polyurethane adhesives in a single cartridge. That cuts down what an electrician or installer has to carry to a job and removes the need for mechanical fixings on a wide range of substrates.
