About MultiSolve 200ml
MultiSolve 200ml: The Site-Bag Size for CT1 and BT1
MultiSolve is C-Tec's multi-purpose solvent cleaner and degreaser. It is a 100% aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent with no recycled solvents, and it is the recommended cleaning companion to CT1 and BT1. C-Tec designed MultiSolve to do two things that no general-purpose degreaser does well: clean a substrate immediately before CT1 or BT1 is applied, and tool a freshly applied joint cleanly without the sealant bonding to your tool or gloves.
The surface-preparation role is straightforward. Grease, silicone residue, oil and wax on a substrate will prevent CT1 or BT1 from achieving a full bond. A quick spray of MultiSolve, a 30-second wait, and a wipe with a clean cloth removes all of those contaminants without leaving any oily film behind. Unlike many degreasers, MultiSolve evaporates completely, which means nothing is left on the surface to interfere with adhesion.
The joint-tooling use is less obvious but just as important on a quality finish. Spray a light coat of MultiSolve over a freshly applied CT1 or BT1 bead and the sealant will not stick to whatever you use to shape it. The joint can be smoothed neatly and any excess wiped away without dragging or pulling. The same technique works when removing old CT1 or BT1 joints: soak the residue with MultiSolve and peel or scrape it away without damaging the underlying surface.
Beyond its use with C-Tec sealants, MultiSolve works on adhesive residues, label glue, wax, tar, printing ink, paraffin and grease on almost any surface a trade installer encounters. It is recommended by C-Tec for use across plumbing, bathroom fitting, joinery, tiling, shopfitting and sign-making applications.
The 200ml aerosol is the site-bag size. It fits inside a standard tool bag without taking up the space the 500ml canister does, which makes it the right choice for jobbing plumbers, bathroom fitters and electricians who want MultiSolve on every job without carrying a large can. For workshop or depot use, or for any trade that goes through MultiSolve regularly, the 500ml is the more economical option.

Ensure adequate ventilation in all applications. This product is age-restricted and not for sale to anyone under 18 years old.
Application Guide
How to Use MultiSolve
-
Ventilate the work area
MultiSolve is a solvent aerosol. Open windows and doors before spraying, especially in enclosed spaces like bathrooms or small rooms. Wear gloves if prolonged skin contact is likely. Keep the product away from open flames and ignition sources.
-
Surface preparation before CT1, BT1 or paint
Spray MultiSolve onto the substrate you want to clean. For general cleaning and degreasing the solvent gets to work within seconds. For stubborn adhesive residue or heavy silicone buildup, allow 8 to 10 minutes of dwell time. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Use a fresh cloth for the final wipe to avoid spreading contamination back across the surface.
-
Joint tooling after CT1 or BT1 application
Once CT1 or BT1 has been applied to the joint, spray a light coat of MultiSolve over the bead. Shape the sealant immediately using a caulk tool, a gloved finger or any appropriate shaping tool. The solvent prevents the uncured sealant from adhering to the tool. Wipe away any excess sealant cleanly with a cloth.
-
Stubborn or heavy residues
For thick adhesive layers, old sealant build-up or heavy grease deposits, a second application is often needed. Spray, wait 8 to 10 minutes, scrape or wipe away the softened material, then apply again and wipe clean. Do not attempt to force dried residue off without allowing the solvent time to penetrate.

Frequently Asked
MultiSolve 200ml: Common Questions
Should I buy the 200ml or the 500ml MultiSolve?
The 200ml is the site-bag size. It is compact enough to carry in a standard tool bag and is the right choice for tradespeople who want MultiSolve on every job without carrying a large can. It is ideal for detail work, smaller surface areas and occasional use.
The 500ml is the better-value option for regular workshop or depot use where you go through the product frequently. If you use MultiSolve daily or on large-scale prep and tooling work, the 500ml reduces the cost per application. Both sizes use the same 100% aliphatic hydrocarbon formula.
What is MultiSolve?
MultiSolve is a multi-purpose solvent cleaner and degreaser made by C-Tec, the manufacturer behind CT1 and BT1. It is a 100% aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent with no recycled solvents. It removes adhesives, sealants, oil, grease, silicone, wax, tar, paraffin and printing ink without leaving an oily film. It is the recommended cleaning and tooling companion for CT1 and BT1 applications.
How does MultiSolve work with CT1 and BT1?
MultiSolve has two roles alongside CT1 and BT1 sealants. Before application, spray onto the substrate, allow to activate briefly, then wipe clean. This removes grease, silicone contamination and any residue that would prevent a full bond. After application, spray a light coat over the fresh sealant bead and shape immediately with a caulk tool or damp finger. The solvent prevents the uncured sealant from sticking to the tool and allows a neat, clean finish.
What does MultiSolve remove?
MultiSolve removes silicone sealant residue, adhesive, label glue, double-sided tape residue, oil, grease, wax, paraffin, tar and printing ink. It will also soften and lift old CT1 and BT1 joints when used as a soak. For heavy or stubborn residue, allow 8 to 10 minutes of dwell time and apply a second coat if needed.
Is MultiSolve safe on painted surfaces?
Yes. MultiSolve does not corrode paint. It can be used safely on painted surfaces, vinyl, glass, rubber and most plastics. For spray-painting preparation, use a two-cloth system: apply MultiSolve with one cloth and wipe with a clean dry cloth immediately to avoid dragging silicone or wax residue across the surface you are about to paint.
Does MultiSolve leave an oily residue?
No. MultiSolve is a fast-drying aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent that evaporates cleanly without leaving an oily film. This makes it suitable as a pre-treatment before painting, priming or applying CT1 or BT1, where any residue left on the surface would impair adhesion.
What trades use MultiSolve?
MultiSolve is used by plumbers, bathroom fitters, joiners, tilers, electricians, shopfitters, builders, stonemasons and sign makers. Any trade that uses CT1 or BT1 will benefit from it for surface prep and joint tooling. It is also widely used in vehicle preparation (removing trim adhesive, tar spots and wax before spray painting) and in workshop settings for degreasing tools and mechanical parts.
What sizes does MultiSolve come in?
MultiSolve is available in 200ml and 500ml aerosol canisters. The 200ml is a useful site-bag size for carrying on the job. The 500ml is the better-value option for regular trade use. The 200ml is available at Harbro Electrical's Peterlee trade counter -- call ahead on 0191 518 1998 to confirm current stock on each size.
