A battery doorbell is a wireless doorbell where both the push button and chime are powered by batteries, with no mains wiring required. The Ener-J Smart Flexi includes a 5200mAh rechargeable battery providing up to 120 days per charge. The Knightsbridge DC010 uses standard replaceable batteries.

What is a doorbell chime?

A doorbell chime is the indoor unit that sounds when the push button is pressed. The Knightsbridge DC010 is a complete battery-powered kit including push and chime with 58 selectable ringtones. The DC012 (Black) and DC013 (White) are standalone plug-in chime receivers for pairing with an existing compatible push button.

Do I need a transformer for a wired doorbell?

Yes. All hardwired doorbell circuits require a doorbell transformer to step 230V mains down to the 8 to 12V AC required by the bell circuit. For retrofit installs with an existing transformer already in place, verify the output voltage matches the new doorbell specification before replacing just the push or chime unit.
